SOAS photo competition winners announced
6 March 2014
Thank you to everyone who participated in our photo competition.
More than 1,000 entries, capturing incredible pictures from around the world that highlight the intellectual, cultural and inspiring work of this unique institution and showcase the regions SOAS works within, were received.
The competition looked for pictures which encapsulated any of the following headings:
- Shape World Affairs
- Embrace Colorful Language
- Explore Cultural Understandings
- Challenge Status Quo
- Think Beyond Borders
- Meet the World at SOAS
The winners have now been decided by our judging panel. Trevor Marchand, Professor of Social Anthropology, who was one of the judges, said: "We received a large number of entries, all of which told fascinating stories and many of which were of excellent quality and composition. Final selection posed a challenging task for the committee. I believe that our six winners and six runners-up poetically communicate the diverse experiences and interests of the SOAS community."
The judges are now delighted to announce the following winners, whose work can be seen at a reception at 6-8.30pm on Monday 10 March at National Geographic Store, Knightsbridge, 102A Brompton Rd, London SW3 1JJ. Please come and enjoy a drink and the winning photos. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to register your attendance.
