SOAS scholars provide critical perspectives on the links between crisis and migration.
Anna Lindley, lecturer in Development Studies at SOAS, University of London has led a group of colleagues at SOAS and other institutions in a book project exploring the links between crisis and migration. As terms like ‘migration crisis’ and ‘crisis migration’ are acquiring increasing currency among policy-makers and academics, Crisis and Migration: Critical Perspectives investigates a series of politically controversial migration situations around the world, from the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and East Asia to Europe. The book shows how these situations are experienced by people on the ground, how they are spun by political actors, and how they fit within longer histories of social change, transformation and mobility.
