Pay & Pensions

The Payroll and Pensions Team, which is part of the Human Resources Directorate, is located in room V202, Vernon Square.

The team is headed by Marie Stacey (ms10@soas.ac.uk, telephone 0207 074 5042), who is currently the Acting Payroll and Pensions' Manager.

The Payroll Administrators are:

Payroll Deadlines

Salaries and wages are paid on the last working day of the month. Time sheets must be received by the Payroll and Pensions Team by the 14th of the month for inclusion in the following payroll. An earlier deadline applies for December and Easter. Follow this link for the monthly deadlines.

Pensions

The School offers membership of two final salary pension schemes:

  • USS - Universities Superannuation Scheme - whose members are Grade 6 and above.

Employment status of self-employed workers at SOAS: Guidance

Please follow this link which sets out guidance for managers in determining the employment status of current and future workers as to whether they should be treated as being either self-employed or subject to PAYE tax treatment and thus paid through the School’s payroll.

Cycle to Work Scheme

The SOAS Cycle to Work Scheme is available through a salary sacrifice/hire agreement arrangement. The scheme offers an attractive employee benefit and provides substantial savings on the cost of a bike and safety equipment.
