Description
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
( تعلّموا العربية و علّموها الناس )
شهادة في تدريس اللغة العربية لغير الناطقين بها
This teaching certificate course is designed to meet the rapidly growing demand for trained and qualified teachers of Arabic in the UK and elsewhere. The course lays great emphasis on the practical skills required to teach Arabic while taking account of the varied needs for teaching Arabic in secondary schools, at further and adult educational institutions, as well as in higher education establishments.
The course is suitable for novice teachers and for in-service training (in the teaching of Arabic). With a large part of the programme devoted to classroom observation and teaching practice, it not only caters for those who wish to become teachers of Arabic and have no teaching experience to date, but also serves to refresh and consolidate the teaching techniques of those who are already teaching.
By the end of the course candidates should be able to demonstrate:
- A good understanding of the main issues in language learning and language teaching in general and in the field of Arabic language learning and teaching in particular.
- Knowledge and understanding of the language system of Arabic including its grammatical and phonological features.
- Competence in selecting and using materials and resources – including modern technologies - to teach and facilitate the learning of Arabic as a foreign language.
- Competence in lesson preparation and practical teaching of beginner, intermediate and advanced learners of Arabic, using appropriate methodologies.
Entry Requirements
Candidates should normally hold a university degree or an equivalent qualification and be able to demonstrate an active interest in language learning and teaching in general.
Candidates whose mother tongues are neither Arabic nor English need to provide evidence of competence in both languages. Candidates whose mother-tongue is either English or Arabic need to provide evidence of language competence in their respective second language. Non-native speakers of English need to provide proof of competence in English by IELTS score of 6 or equivalent. All candidates will need to do a short written test at interview to demonstrate competence in writing in Arabic. Alternative arrangements will be made for telephone interviews.
