The programme accommodates a wide variety of topics through which to engage with the region's diversity and provides a firm foundation for further language study.Structure
In the first year of the programme, students take one unit in a modern Middle Eastern language (Turkish, Persian or Hebrew), a course in Turkish, Arabic or Israeli culture, and courses in Middle Eastern literature and history. In the second year, students choose one further language unit and take an introductory course in Islam; two further units are chosen from the lists of options, which include further language courses and courses in art, history, religion, music, politics, economics and law.
