The Schedule
The closing date for submissions to the REF is 30 November 2013, although the final outcome will not be known until December 2014. To be valid for inclusion, work submitted for the REF 2014 must have been published between 1 January 2008 and 31 December 2013. Outputs must be from members of staff who are in post at SOAS on a research or a research & teaching contract, on the census date of 31 October 2013.
The official timetable published by the REF is now as follows:

| December 2012 | Survey of submissions intentions complete. Deadline for requests for multiple submissions. |
| January 2013 | Launch of submissions system and accompanying technical guidance |
| 31 July 2013 | End of assessment period (for research impacts, the research environment and data about research income and research doctoral degrees awarded) |
