Awards for Fieldwork
51 fieldwork awards of up to £750 each are available to provide financial support for SOAS postgraduate research students undertaking PhD fieldwork abroad. Fieldwork awards are not renewable.
Competition for fieldwork awards is very intense and candidates and referees are encouraged to be as precise as possible in making their case for support.
The awards do not cover conference attendance.
Application Deadlines
28 October 2012 – only for students leaving for fieldwork from 7 January 2013 (term 2) to 14 April 2013 inclusive
20 January 2013 – only for students leaving for fieldwork from 15 April 2013 (term 3) to 22 September 2013 inclusive
20 April 2013 – only for student leaving for fieldwork from 23 September 2013 (term 1) to 6 January 2014 inclusive
