SOAS Master's Scholarships - Faculty of Arts & Humanities

There are five SOAS Master's scholarships available in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities. The value of the SOAS Master's Scholarships is equivalent of a Research Council Master's Research Preparation studentship. For 2011/12, this was £14,956. Please note that the SOAS Master's scholarship does not cover the Equal Learning Qualification - ELQ fee.
Eligible Programmes
- any full-time taught masters programmes in Faculty of Arts and Humanities
- Part-time programmes are not eligible.
Candidate Criteria
- Applicants must possess or expect to be awarded a First Class Honours Degree or equivalent. Students with a non-UK degree to be adjudged in the top rank by their referees and transcript.
- Applicants must possess or expect to be awarded a First Class in Dissertation
- Applicants must also provide evidence of distinction e.g. scholarships, prizes, awards as indicators of excellent academic achievement in Undergraduate studies
- This scholarship is open to UK/EU and overseas applicants.
Candidate Assessment
- Candidates will be assessed on academic merit by an Advisory Panel consisting of at least three academic members of the Faculty.
- The assessment of your application will be based on the information you your application. Selectors will be looking at the degree results and also at academic references, statement and other relevant information.
Scholarship Application Deadline
- Scholarship applications must be received no later than 5pm on 31 January 2012.
- Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Applicants must have also applied for a place to study at the School preferably four weeks before the scholarship closing date (ie by 4 January 2011) but no later than the scholarship application deadline in order to be considered for this scholarship. The application for a place must be complete.
Notification of Results
All candidates will be notified by email regarding the outcome of their application, generally by the end of May. Successful candidates will also be notified in writing. If you have not heard from us by mid-June, please contact the Scholarships Officer.
