‘Shongram’ is a 118 minute romantic drama set during the 1971 Bangladesh liberation.  It is a flashback story told by a British Bangladeshi (Anupam Kher) to a London reporter (Asia Argento).

Film screening followed by discussion with the director Munsur Ali.

Biography

Munsur Ali graduated with honours in ‘B.A. Film and TV Production’ in 2004 and set up his film production company a year earlier whilst still studying. Since then he has worked alongside global US, UK and Bollywood names and produced promos to docu-films highlighting social issues.
He is the founder and CEO of the Limelight Film Awards, the largest independent short film awards in the UK which identifies twelve emerging film talent each year. In its eighth year and attended by over 500 film makers, media personalities and celebrities, it is now recognised by national and international organisations, educational institutions and the film fraternity.

Salil Tripathi is the author of T he Colonel Who Would Not Repent: The Bangladesh War and its Unquiet Legacy (Aleph, 2014),  and Offence: The Hindu Case (Seagull, 2009). His collection of travel writing will be published later this year by Tranquebar. He is contributing editor at Mint and Caravan in India. His articles have appeared in many publications around the world. He was one of the recipients of Bastiat Prize for Journalism in New York in 2011 and Citibank Pan-Asian Economic Journalism Award in 1994. Born in Bombay, Salil was educated in the United States, has been a correspondent in Singapore and Hong Kong, and now lives in London.
