Dr. Cox's research work focuses on the history of textual creation and dissemination in the far South of the Indian subcontinent in the early second millennium of the Common Era. His principle teaching includes the beginning and intermediate levels of Sanskrit language instruction. Dr. Cox was awarded his PhD in the Department of South Asian Languages and Civilizations of the University of Chicago. His doctoral dissertation was a study of a late-medieval Saiva author Mahesvarananda. His BA from the University of Virginia was a double degree in History and Religious Studies.
