PhD Research

This research is a study of three cooking schools in Guangzhou during the period of 2008-2009.  I am interested in how individuals learn to ‘taste’: how aspiring cooks learn cooking skills through cooking schools, and how they also adopt social and vocational identities through attending cooking schools.
