The Gitagudharthadipika is a running commentary on the Bhagavadgita, one of the foundational sources of orthodox Indian philosophy in general and of Vedanta philosophy in particular by Madhusudana Sarasvati, a famous Vedanta philosopher in 16th CE Bengal,India. The remarkable contribution of this author is to amalgamate two opposite views in Indian philosophy viz; devotion and knowledge. Being an ardent follower of Advaita Vedanta where knowledge is the sole means of liberation Madhusudana brought the conception of devotion there in conformity with the non-dualistic (Advaitavedantic) view of Sankara. The present commentary on the Gita , which has been dealt with insufficiently so far, substantiates the view stated above.
