PhD Research

The focus of this PhD is the extent to which Abu Anees Barkat Ali, the founder of the convent of Dār Ul Ehsān, can be seen as an authentic and legitimate manifestation of tasawwuf or Islamic mysticism. It will also consider to what extent his teachings, beliefs, literary works and religious convent, the khānqah of Dār ul Ehsān, demonstrate a change or continuity in terms of traditional Islamic belief and practice.
