Biography

Felix Berenskötter received his PhD in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Before coming to SOAS, he was a Research Associate at the Department of War Studies, King's College London and a Research Fellow at the John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding, Dartmouth College. He also taught at the LSE and Dartmouth College and is a former Editor of Millennium: Journal of International Studies. In earlier years he had a peek into various areas of work (ranging from driving ambulances to diplomacy) but eventually decided that academia is the best place to intervene in the world.

Dr Berenskötter is associated with the Transatlantic Programme at IDEAS, LSE, and with the Center for Advanced International Theory (CAIT), Sussex. He is the co-founder and former chair of the Theory Section of the International Studies Association (ISA) and is currently working on three projects: (1) Processes of international friendship and estrangement; (2) Concepts and concept analysis in world politics; and (3) The meaning, purpose and place of theory in the discipline of International Relations.
