This research project is an attempt to investigate the positive and negative influence translation has made on the structure, morphology and lexicology of Arabic language. It will proceed to prove that the negative aspect of translation is not limited to poor translations, but has also spread to original compositions in Arabic that often sound like poorly translated texts or even foreign. The findings and recommendations of the study are intended to be used as a starting point to better the quality of translation from English into Arabic and to make attempts to reduce the negative effects of translation on Arabic. The term ‘quality control’ is frequently used to refer to the implementation of specific standards with the aim of raising the quality of almost every sort of activity. Arabic translation deserves to be at the top of the list. Among the recommendations to be made is the activation of the role of Arabic news and book editors, given that their current role is restricted to making editorial judgments on the basis of political, religious and/or ethical grounds. Editors in the west, in contrast, are highly competent and empowered to make unconstrained corrections and modifications on texts before allowing these texts to be published. Corrections and modifications include checking the spelling, accuracy of information and figures, style, cohesion, coherence and grammar. Such type of qualified editors is what actually Arabic language stands in need for.
