PhD Research

My research is primarily concerned with the state's management and accommodation of religious diversity.

My research examines particular moments of communal conflict in Indian and Malaysian post-independence history.  In doing so, it focuses on specific case law relating to communal conflict and violence, judicial and academic analysis of this case law, state policy initiatives and the impact of these initiatives in the post-9/11 period in both India and Malaysia.
