Biography

Silvia is a final year PhD student from the Department of Politics at SOAS (2008-2012). She is specializing in Arab politics and Third World studies, particularly comparative Latin and Arab contemporary development. Silvia has papers published in leading Latin American journals and Brazilian newspapers and contributed regularly to Le Monde Diplomatique during the years 2007 and 2009. She has a book published on the International Relations of the Arab world (or, in its Portuguese original version, Relações Internacionais do Mundo Árabe). She was a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Politics for the International Politics course during the 2008-2009 academic year and currently holds the same position for the Comparative and International Politics course, both at SOAS. Before coming to London, she was a lecturer in Brazil and her most experienced area of teaching is International Politics and her expertise is in Arab and Middle Eastern studies.
