Although security of property rights and the incapability of interference with a person's property by others, except within the limits of law, is something which is taken for granted in developed societies, the issue is of great importance in the developing world.  The issue becomes of greater importance where this developing country is facing the repercussions of both conflict and socialism, as is the situation in Libya.

The thesis determines whether reforms to the laws of real property in Libya are a precondition for the encouragement of investment and the achievement of economic growth in post-conflict Libya, and if so the types of reforms required.
