Thesis title:
‘A Study on Monolingual Learner’s Dictionary for foreign learners’
Internal Supervisors

PhD Research

My research relates to Korean linguistics. In particular, I am studying three major fields; Korean syntax, Korean lexicography and Korean language teaching as a second or foreign language. My research deals with Korean monolingual dictionaries for encoding activities and focus on the syntactic information given to assist Korean advanced learners’ language development. (The primary focus of my research is to investigate learners’ difficulties when learning Korean and typical errors related to specific items and to suggest how lexicographers could offer syntactic information to meet their needs and help them more effectively.) My project aims to produce some suggestions for providing dictionaries with different and more tailored syntactic information that satisfies Korean learners’ needs, as opposed to the information given in the Korean monolingual dictionary primarily targeted at Korean native speakers.
