Ms Boni Sones OBE

Biography

Boni is a BBC Correspondent and freelance political editor UK politics who specialises in the communication of social policy and related issues through the web and national, regional and local media. She has 30 years of experience in social affairs reporting in print, radio and television. Boni helped set up the BBC's News 24 Channel.

She is the Executive Producer for Women's Parliamentary Radio, which has made documentaries on our International Section on women in the Ugandan Parliament and women in the Ethiopian Parliament and interviewed a woman Minister from Zambia, amongst others.

In 2009 Boni was awarded an OBE for "Services to Broadcasting and Government PR”.  

Boni is a published author and was nominated for the Orwell Prize in journalism in 2005 for her book "Women in Parliament: The New Suffragettes”, published by Methuen. This was made into a BBC Radio 4 "Archive Hour” documentary by her production company. In August 2010 Boni published two books of short stories "The Mermaid's Tale” and "Prequel to the Mermaid's Tale”. Her short stories of Suffolk have appeared in the East Anglian Daily Times, on Anglia TV and talked about on BBC Radio Suffolk.
