PhD Research

This project aims to present a historical research into epidemic diseases which plagued the island of Cyprus from antiquity to today. I am interested in especially the late Ottoman and British periods on the island. I believe this subject has not been dealt with extensively before with reference to Cyprus and I feel that a comprehensive research could contribute immensely to the understanding of another aspect of life and sociological conditions on the island. The study could indicate the extent to which the curses influenced and had repercussions in areas such as economy, tourism, production and population numbers.
