Biography

Mamoud Idriss Tarawallie holds a BA – (Hons) degree in political science from the university of Sierra Leone (2006) and an MA in International Development - Politics and Governance from the Institute of Development Policy and Management (IDPM) - University of Manchester UK, through a Commonwealth Scholarship. He was a Teaching and Research Assistant in the Department of Political Science - University of Sierra Leone and also worked for several years in development management in post-conflict Sierra Leone and Liberia. 

In 2011 after his MA studies, he worked for Leonard Cheshire Disability as Livelihoods Programmes Manager in its West African Regional Office based in Freetown. In August 2012, he took an appointment with BBC Media Action (formerly BBC World Service Trust) - the international development charity for the BBC World Service as 'Governance Programme Manager'. 

Mamoud manages BBC Media Action's capacity building project in Sierra Leone for local media, aimed at creating dialogue between local people and their leaders and supporting the creation of the required spaces for rural participation and improvement of rural service delivery.

Research interests

Politics of Development, Post-war security and Governance reform (including decentralisation, security sector reform, and DDR), state building and rural development management.
