Faith and Spiritual Practice - Local places of worship

SOAS is not only a centre for the academic study of religions and cultures at the heart of a great world city, it is also a community of people where individuals are free to live out their faith in an open and encouraging environment.

Do not be surprised to see Buddhists Monks queuing for lunch in the Refectory, or hear Muslim or Christian students practicing their devotions in one of the Schools dedicated prayer rooms.

If you need help in finding the nearest place of worship for you, or if you are interested in exploring faith for the first time, then please do not hesitate to get in touch with any of the people listed on this page.

Prayer Rooms available at SOAS for Students of all faiths

There are Prayer Rooms available at both of our Campuses. Room L65 (in the basement) at Russell Square and Room V220 on the 2nd floor at Vernon Square.

SOAS students can also use the Multi-faith prayer room in the Institute of Education, which is located on Level 2 under the Students Union. Directions: From the IOE SU take the rear staircase down to Level 2 where the toilets, ablutions room and prayer room are located.
