The SOAS Library
The recently refurbished SOAS library is one of the finest in the world specialising in Asian and African studies, and is used by students and visiting scholars alike. With over a million volumes, it acquires important contributions to Asian and African scholarship in the humanities and social sciences published anywhere in the world. It possesses many rare and valuable printed works, manuscripts and important collections of archives and maps. Additionally, students have access to the libraries at the other colleges in the University of London, including the London School of Economics and University College London. And of course, students are fortunate to have the British Library on their doorstep!

IT Services
Every student receives a SOAS student computing account, including an e-mail account and access to online resources for their classes (Blackboard) at registration. The School currently has around 200 computers (Mac and PC) available for student use, providing internet access and e-mail facilities. A multimedia suite is available for students who wish to use graphic design/video editing facilities. Students can connect their personal computers to the SOAS wireless network when on campus, and the SOAS student residences are on-line, allowing students with computers to access the internet and e-mail from their study-bedrooms.

Language Labs
Dedicated language laboratories and open-access language resource rooms are available to all students. A recording studio provides facilities for the production of audio and video tapes. Students also have access to satellite television offering over 30 channels from across the world, and the School has direct lines to the overseas service of the BBC.
The Academic Development Directorate
The Academic Development Directorate (ADD) provides support to all students through the provision of academic development workshops, one-to-one tutorials and help-yourself resources which cover topics such as essay writing, presentation skills and exam technique. Sessions are held every week.

Course Tutor
The faculty offices have students support teams to help students access the information and contacts they need. Additionally, each course has an assigned tutor who can offer advice on academic issues and problems relating to their specific course.
Dedicated Academic Advisors
Study Abroad and exchange students have their own dedicated Academic Advisor to offer advice and guidance on all aspects of study throughout their time at SOAS. Students will receive contact details and office hours of the Academic Advisor at orientation.
