Sara Iannone, Università degli Studi di Napoli “L’Orientale”, Year Abroad

My advice would be: go for it! Especially if you are thinking about studying at SOAS because it is a great experience, not only for your CV but for yourself as well because [the] SOAS environment is really as great as the leaflets or the website tell you.

Erasmus Exchange September 2011 - June 2012

Which courses did you study at SOAS?

Why did you choose SOAS?

Firstly, I chose SOAS because it is the only university in London specifically related to African and Oriental studies... Secondly, I chose SOAS because I already knew that, as far as my field of studies is concerned, it is one of best universities in Europe, with lots of important lectures and interesting courses.

What did you enjoy most about your academic studies?

What I enjoyed the most about my studies was the possibility of developing your own ideas and thoughts. Every time you write an essay or a research paper you are carrying on your own ideas and trying to prove it. It is like a challenge. My home university has different ways of assessment but I prefer how things are handled at SOAS... Besides, I must add that SOAS library is great and there is almost everything you need to support your studies.
