Important Information for International Students with a Tier-4 Student Visa
If you are being sponsored by SOAS for your Tier-4 student visa, you will need to attend the Registry for re-registration and verification of identification. This is a requirement of the UK Border Agency and we wish to make this as straight forward for you as possible.
Re-registration will take place at the Registry Office in Vernon Square between 30 September and 11 October. If you do not attend this re-registration, we will send you one reminder to do so – we may have to withdraw our Tier-4 sponsorship if you do not register.
During these dates, you will need to bring your passport and current visa documentation to the Registry. A copy will be taken of your documents and we will verify on your record that we have seen your documents.
If your visa expires before the end of your course, you must ensure that apply for a new visa before your current visa expires. A new Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), can be obtained from the Registry - you can apply for your CAS using our online form.
If you are in the process for applying for a new or extended visa, you must ensure that you are able to show us the following documents:
- Copy of the photo page of your passport;
- Copy of the visa application;
- Proof of visa application submission (eg receipt of postage; confirmation from the Border Agency that your application has been received)
You will also need to bring with you the completed form verifying your current UK address, which you can download here and a document providing us with evidence that you are living at that address.
It is possible for you to complete this process during Welcome Week – however, a large quantity of Registry staff will be enrolling new students in Russell Square and therefore we will only have a few staff available to process your documents in Vernon Square.
