Welcome to the International Student & Welfare Office
What we do
The International Student and Welfare Advisers offer SOAS students information, advice and practical help on non-academic problems or issues that might be affecting their studies. These include money matters, immigration, accommodation, childcare, welfare benefits and personal issues.
We administer the Higher Education Access to Learning Fund and the School’s Hardship Funds and can help students to apply for assistance from these. Money advice is also available on sources of student funding, entitlement to statutory student support for fees and living costs, student loans, benefits and on budgeting.
We operate the Student Batch Scheme for students who need to extend their stay in the UK for further studies at SOAS, and we offer advice on other immigration issues.
We encourage you to contact us if you have a problem, however small or trivial it may seem. It is our aim to help you to succeed in your studies and the sooner you address a problem, the sooner you can concentrate fully on your studies and the more likely you are to achieve your full potential.
The service is impartial and confidential.
