Biography

Björn joined the Department of Religions and Philosophies as a Lecturer in World Philosophies 2022. Until then he was working as an Independent Researcher based in Knoxville, TN, USA where he still resides when he is not at SOAS.

His research fields include political philosophy, African philosophy, animal ethics, phenomenology of normativity, literary studies and feminist philosophy. His current main research project aims at the Desuperiorization of Philosophy, ie. developing a radically anti-oppressive moral philosophy, and at the Foundation of Superaltern Studies, a research area investigating the western superiorist traditions and its self-representation as global moral authority (see this conference from 2021 Desuperiorization).
