About this event
Historians of Bengali literature have created a category called “Nāth literature”, which consists of several late medieval works of various genres. Scholars believe that the existence of these texts demonstrates the significant and long-term presence of the Nāths in Bengal, and that the Nāth teachings on yoga have profoundly influenced other religious traditions in this region. In his talk, Lubomír Ondračka will question both of these views.
Lubomír Ondračka is a Research Fellow at the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. His research is focused on the history of yoga, death and dying in India, and on religions and culture of Bengal.
