The COVID-19 crisis has illustrated the crucial role of finance in supporting the real economy during times of crisis and in facilitating economic recovery. However, it also revealed fragilities in financial systems, not least caused through unprecedented capital outflows from developing and emerging economies at the onset of the crisis. Ahead of the Finance in Common Summit, which will take place in Paris in November 2020, this webinar will discuss the role of financial sector development in contributing to more resilient economic development. In particular, it will consider potential lessons from the current crisis for financial development policies and the role of development banks and public finance institutions.
