Abstract
Sung Ting-tung was one of the local Meinung community organizers who started the Meinung Anti-Dam movement in the 1990s. He was also involved in establishing international linkages for the movement, finding connection with International Rivers Network, Friends of The Earth, River Watch for East and Southeast Asia, along with the international green party network.
During this special conversation session, Sung Ting-tung will discuss his role in the Meinung Anti-Dam movement, reflecting on its successes and considering its lasting legacy within Taiwan. The session offers attendees a rare opportunity to engage directly with a key activist within Taiwan's environmentalist movement, and serves as a perfect companion event to our online screening of "County Road 184 縣道184之東" and accompanying Q&A session with Director Ho Chao-ti.
