About this event
The SOAS Centre for Sustainable Finance is co-organising an online workshop on “Climate Finance in Asia and Australasia”, together with the Climate and Energy Finance Group at the University of Otago , the International Institute of Green Finance at CUFE , and the Oxford Sustainable Finance Programme at the University of Oxford . The workshop is tied to the 3rd Annual Conference of the Global Research Alliance for Sustainable Finance and Investment which is hosted by Columbia University .
Sustainable finance and managing climate risk are becoming two of the most important issues facing investors and financial regulators. The financial risks and opportunities associated with climate change are particularly acute in Asia and Australasia. The region is highly vulnerable to climate change related natural disasters. Further, in meeting the demand of growing populations and economic growth, governments in the region have tended to lag other part of the world.
The aim of the workshop is to encourage community building among researchers focused on climate finance in Asia and Australasia. We take a broad definition of climate finance-related topics and we welcome submission from a range of methodological approaches (empirical analyses, theoretical, macroeconomic/monetary-environment models, case studies, policy analyses etc.). Papers should have clear relevance to policy or investment practice and utilise Asian and Australasian data or context.
The organisers are arranging a special issue intended for publication in Climate Policy . Selected papers presented at the event will be invited by the guest editors, in consultation with the journal editors, to submit to the special issue.
