About the speakers

Hisae Nakanishi is Professor of Middle East studies at the Graduate School of Global Studies, Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan. She is currently a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Politics and International Studies, SOAS.

Karabekir Akkoyunlu is Lecturer in the Politics of the Middle East at SOAS. His research has an inter-regional comparative focus, covering the Middle East (in particular Iran and Turkey), Latin America (Brazil), and Southeast Asia (Indonesia).

Chair: Arshin Adib-Moghaddam is Professor in Global Thought and Comparative Philosophies at SOAS and Fellow of Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge.
