Biography

Before joining the Centre of Taiwan Studies in SOAS, I had undertook diverse positions in a non-profit governmental organisation, academic institutions, the private sector, and a religious charity. My Ph.D., received in 2012, examined the difference of Chinese preferential treatment to Taiwanese and non-Taiwanese foreign investors in the two main business hubs - Pearl River Delta and Yangtze River Delta. The thesis also investigated the opportunities and constraints that Taiwanese businesses have encountered in these two locales to discover whether the practices employed by Chinese local bureaucrats helps or hinders Chinese broader political objectives. Currently, the thesis monograph is under revision for publication.

My current research is to examine the implementation and impact of Chinese central government's Particulate Matter Policy in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen. The issue of Chinese environmental protection has caused great concerns and attention to the world.
