Staff health and wellbeing

Employee Assistance Programme

You and your household members have access to the free, external confidential support service for work, financial, legal family and personal matters through the Employee Assistance Programme. The service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You also have access to free and confidential telephone counselling, webinars, self-help programmes and many other resources

Occupational health service

SOAS partners with an independent occupational health provider, taking a proactive approach to the management of health in the work environment. The service advises on the effects of health on work, work on health, fitness to work and rehabilitation needs, including reasonable adjustments. If you are experiencing work-related muscular-skeletal problems, you can also access a physiotherapy service. Contact your Employee Relations Consultant to find out more.

Free eye tests

All SOAS employees using display screen equipment (DSE) are entitled to an eye examination funded by the School. Please fill out a reimbursement on Agresso.

Enhanced sick pay

All employees are offered occupational sick pay at the rate of two weeks' full pay, followed by two weeks' half pay. This rate rises incrementally to 6 months' full pay followed by six months' half pay after 5 years' service.

Discounted gym membership

SOAS have joined up with DW Fitness First to offer staff discounted rates on their gym memberships.
