My time at SOAS has exceeded my expectations. I have been enthralled at the quality and depth of the classes, the discussions and assigned course-readings. More than just adding to my understanding, the experience has challenged the very foundations of the way I view the world, and has motivated me to dig deeper into a variety of issues and approach the world in a more critical manner. Running the courses are brilliant individuals who are intensively engaged in their respective fields, making their teaching relevant and very much cutting edge. The course also challenges students to think creatively and to reflect on ideas that may have previously been taken for granted. Outside of my classes, I have been continually pushed to expand my thinking from the range of events that SOAS offers and from my internship at the Centre for the International Politics of Conflict, Rights and Justice (CCRJ), which hosts individuals involved in rights-based issues around the globe. Additionally, the size and diversity of London means that there is always plenty to explore and people to meet. The only downside has been the expense of living in a big city, but thankfully SOAS offers cheap coffee!
