Farasha, MA in International Studies and Diplomacy 2014

Farasha Bashir

Farasha completed her MA in International Studies and Diplomacy (2013-14) from SOAS, with a special focus on International Security, Diplomatic Studies, International Law and International Politics of Human Rights.

She is currently based in Dhaka, Bangladesh and working as a Communications Specialist at icddr,b, an international public health research organisation pioneering in diarrhoeal disease and vaccine development. She has also worked at BRAC, the world’s largest non-government organisation prior to undertaking her studies at SOAS.

Born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Farasha grew up in Hong Kong; she also spent several years living in Malaysia and Indonesia, before moving to the UK. She is fluent in several regional languages.

Farasha is keen to engage with SOAS alumni and prospective students in Bangladesh (or across the world!) and share experiences of life at SOAS and offer advice on career prospects and opportunities for graduates.

She hopes to make an impact in political policymaking, international development, and communications through practical conversion and application of her academic and professional competencies in the field of politics and development.
