Alexandra, MA International Studies and Diplomacy 2018
Alexandra graduated from SOAS University of London with an MA in International Studies and Diplomacy (2017-2018), with distinction, with a special focus on International Law, International Security, International Relations, and Diplomatic studies. While at SOAS, Alex was elected as student representative for her class and also worked as a student ambassador giving talks and tours to prospective students, and newly-arrived international students and researchers. Alex is keen to engage with SOAS alumni or prospective students in Canada and to build a strong network in the country.
Alex has been working for Global Affairs Canada, Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development since 2020, and currently works in the Office of Protocol as Advisor, Privileges and Immunities. Before joining Global Affairs Canada, Alex spent more than a decade working in media and communications and holds a Bachelor of Journalism, with distinction (2007-2011) from Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada. Alex has worked as a staff reporter at several large daily Canadian broadcasters and newspapers. She was a television reporter and field producer for Global News in Canada from 2012 to 2015, and has had her stories featured nationally across the country and internationally through affiliations with CBS and NBC. She also worked as a communications consultant with a large public-relations agency where she regularly led national media outreach campaigns and provided media interview training and crisis management training for clients, as well as engaged in government relations with Members of Parliament and Ministers' offices. She also spent a year working in Georgetown, Guyana as a Cuso International volunteer.
