Abstract: Since leaving Iraq in November 2006, I’ve developed a numerical signature based on the Abjad system, in which each number corresponds to one Arabic letter. The tradition of codifying letter as number has a long history and is well understood in the Arab world. This system shows a deep understanding of astronomy, logic and mathematics. Numbers have always been prevalent in my work, initially based on my study of ancient Mesopotamian script, as well as hidden as mathematical ideas within the abstract composition of my work. Recently, I recognized a relation between Abjad system codification and virtual aspects of digital art now. The talk will examine this relationship by going through the new terms such as Avatar, Hacktivist and similar. I will indicate to all these by using examples of my artworks and some works of others.
