Explores the global dimensions of digital culture, focusing on digital creativity and practices in the global South. Students are taught to understand the historical development of digital technologies and the internet, exploring their impact and meaning in diverse economic, political and cultural realms.
This course draws upon the unique positioning of SOAS in higher education in order to examine how such tensions affect contemporary journalistic representations of the Global South and how they relate to different cultural, political, technological and historical contexts.
