SOAS East Africa Network

The Centre of African Studies supports the newly-founded SOAS East Africa Network (SoasEAN) - a student-led initiative that aims to connect students, academics and alumni with an interest in East Africa in order to build a strong platform for topics related to the region.

We are working towards giving East Africa the voice it deserves within the SOAS Community through organising academic and cultural events. By bringing together students and staff of various academic specialities we want to create opportunities for inter-disciplinary dialogue.

Our aims reflect current trends in academia, which emphasize a need for a multi-faceted approach, and the demands of students who want to connect with others who study similar subjects with different academic backgrounds. The newly founded SoasEAN aspires to provide a stimulating environment that promotes knowledge exchange and social interaction between students, academics, and alumni with an interest in East Africa.
