Business in Africa Link: Knowledge Transfer Project
The Centre of African Studies was awarded £12,000 by the Knowledge Transfer Initiative to develop a programme for Business in Africa. The main activity in 2011 was a two day Business Conference.
The conference themes were built the established discourse on the role of business in development and the need for business to drive economic growth. Given that in 2010, 17 African countries celebrated their 50 years of Independence and 16 elections took place throughout Africa, 2011 was the year to ask ‘what next for Africa’?
This conference tackled the influence of government policy on the business climate, the ongoing link with India and China, the role of public sector and entrepreneurship and the role of natural resources for the future.
