AGBOGBLOSHIE in ACCRA, GHANA is proven to be one of most poisonous places. It is the largest electronic waste dump in the world. About 6000 women, men and children live and work here. They call it SODOM. Every year about 250.000 tonnes of computers, smartphones, and other devices from a far away digitalized world end up here, shipped to Ghana illegally. It will most probably be the final destination of the smart phone you buy tomorrow.

A discussion will follow the film screening at 8:00pm with:

  • Gideon Commey - Founder of Ghana Youth Environmental Movement (GYEM), and Africa Regional Coordinator, Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS)
  • Christopher Lutterodt-Quarcoo - Director of THE ADV_™ Immersive Forum, Founder of Unmaterialised™ research archive
  • Dan Beck - Director, UK Green Film Festival 2019

Moderated by:

  • Dr Ros Taplin – Centre for Development, Environment & Policy, School of Interdisciplinary Studies, SOAS University of London

This event is in conjunction with the UK Green Film Festival 2019.
