Topic

China was the first country to impose rigorous restrictions on movements of people and goods in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19. It is now becoming the first country to relax these lockdowns. The number of new coronavirus cases in China has meanwhile reportedly fallen sharply, averaging around 100 per day during March. Success in controlling the COVID-19 epidemic is now enabling the government to focus on restoring economic activities. It will, however, take time for the domestic economy to return to normal functioning. In addition, more comprehensive economic recovery will be seriously delayed until COVID-19 outbreaks in other countries are also brought under control.
