Professor Peter K. Austin, Märit Rausing Chair in Field Linguistics, has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Faculty of Languages at Uppsala University, Sweden.

SOAS, University of London will host a workshop entitled ‘Documenting and preserving indigenous languages: principles, practices and tools’ in Bangkok, Thailand from 8-14 February 2015. The workshop has been organised in collaboration with Mahidol University, based in Bangkok, and is being funded by the British Council.

The Second Annual CCLPS Postgraduate Conference, From the Speech to the Act: Performativity on the Margins held on 13 June 2014 was a resounding success. Selected papers from the conference will be published in an upcoming issue of the SOAS Journal of Postgraduate Research. A podcast of the conference is also forthcoming.
