This course offers a further selection of readings in Akkadian texts. The genres covered will normally include Old Babylonian royal inscriptions, letters and literary texts, though other texts may also be offered.
Introductory Akkadian is a prerequisite.
The course will normally entail two hours in the classroom each week in the second term. Preparation for classes will include the study of passages from the set texts for reading in class.
Scope and syllabus
The course comprises mainly the reading and discussion of a selection of set texts in cuneiform and transliteration.
Method of assessment
One written examination of two hours' duration, which tests candidates' ability in the reading and analysis of selected passages from the set texts in cuneiform and transliteration.
