After introducing the scripts of Syriac, the main thrust of the lectures will be to acquaint students with the essentials of grammar.

Objectives and learning outcomes of the module

Mastery of all tools needed for tackling Syriac texts. Experience of reading moderately difficult Syriac texts. Outcome: a level of Syriac sufficient to start reading difficult texts.

Method of assessment

  • AS1 - 20%
  • AS2 - 10%
  • AS3 - 20%
  • One exam - 50% (final assessment)
