Module overview

This module is designed to introduce students to a wide variety of issues that are important within the economic and social development of Japan and Korea, and the implications for International Business.

Objectives and learning outcomes of the module

Upon completion of this module students will be able to:

  • Understand contemporary perspectives on Japan and Korea’s socio-economic development and critically discuss the implications for International Business.
  • Use relevant theoretical perspectives and business case studies to critically evaluate key contemporary socio-economic challenges in Japan and Korea, and how they affect business practices in these two countries.
  • Evaluate the growth rates, and business and managerial practices in these two economies and discuss their sustainable growth paths
  • Use high-level academic skills of synthesis, analysis and communication within peer discussions, written essays, examinations and independently researched presentations. Discuss topics critically within assessed presentations.
  • Research and review different business publications and academic literature using electronic information and library facilities and critically evaluate how they add to the understanding of key topics in this module.
  • Understand and evaluate the impacts of global events on the Japanese and Korean economies.
