Module overview

שָׁלוֹם

This module develops oral, aural, writing and reading proficiency in Modern Hebrew, with equal attention to the colloquial and the formal. All aspects of Hebrew grammar and syntax are introduced, some at a basic level, and vocabulary is enriched and enhanced by the introduction of more complicated texts from different sources and on a variety of topics. Students will learn the past tense of all active verb groups as well as the future tense. Some passive forms will be taught and the gerund.

Workload

Total of 10 weeks teaching with 3 hours classroom contact per week.

Method of assessment

  • 60% Written Exam, 3 hours
  • 20% Oral one-to-one presentation, 15 minutes
  • 20% Mid-term class test, 1 hour
