The conference featured over 250 papers, including 40 panels focusing on a wide variety of social, developmental, and political challenges facing Southeast Asia. Events also included panels, film screening, gallery tour, performance, publishers fair and evening network events. This conference provided a major venue for the dissemination of research on South East Asia in various disciplines for academics from both the UK and abroad and attracted over 350+ participants to SOAS.

Limited places were available for a guided tour and gallery talk by exhibition curators Alexandra Green and Matthew Cohen of the British Museum’s Southeast Asian shadow puppet exhibition on 16 September 2016.
